Organic Aronia Juice Concentrate

Organic aronia juice concentrate is made from aronia berries, also known as chokeberries, which are small, dark purple fruits native to North America. The berries are pressed to extract their juice, which is then concentrated by removing water. This process intensifies the color and flavor of the juice.

Manufacturers use organic aronia juice concentrate primarily for its deep red color and tart, slightly astringent flavor. It is often added to beverages like juices, nectars, and fruit drinks to enhance their color and provide a complex berry taste. It can also be found in some fruit-flavored blends and beverages.

Aronia berries are a source of antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, which contribute to their deep color. The FDA does not have specific regulations for aronia juice concentrate as a food additive, and it is generally recognized as safe when used as a food ingredient. International bodies like EFSA have not specifically evaluated aronia juice concentrate. Research suggests that the antioxidants in aronia may have health benefits, but more studies are needed to confirm these effects.
