Reconstituted Kiwi Juice

Reconstituted kiwi juice is made from dried kiwi fruit pulp or concentrate that is rehydrated with water. Kiwi juice provides the flavor and nutrients of the original fruit. It is used to add a distinct fruity taste to food products.

Manufacturers use reconstituted kiwi juice primarily for its flavor and to contribute to the fruit content of beverages and other food items. It is commonly found in fruit juices, nectars, and fruit-flavored drinks. It adds a tropical, slightly tart flavor profile.

Reconstituted kiwi juice is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as a food ingredient. It provides vitamins and minerals naturally found in kiwi fruit, such as Vitamin C and potassium. JECFA and EFSA have not specifically evaluated reconstituted kiwi juice as a distinct additive, but the fruit itself is a whole food. No significant health concerns are associated with typical consumption of reconstituted kiwi juice.
