Water And Concentrated Juice Of Apples

This ingredient is a combination of water and concentrated apple juice. The juice is made by pressing apples to extract their liquid, which is then concentrated by removing water. This process intensifies the apple flavor and makes it easier to transport and store.

Manufacturers use this ingredient primarily to provide a natural apple flavor and sweetness in beverages and other food products. It is commonly found in fruit juices, juice drinks, nectars, and sometimes in baked goods or fruit-flavored snacks where a distinct apple taste is desired.

Water is essential for life and has no known adverse health effects. Concentrated apple juice is a source of natural sugars and some nutrients. The FDA considers water and fruit juices to be safe when consumed as part of a balanced diet. International bodies like JECFA have evaluated related substances, but specific evaluations for this exact combination may vary. Excessive intake of sugars from any source, including fruit juice, can contribute to health issues.
