Yellow Chili Pepper

Yellow chili peppers are a variety of the species *Capsicum annuum*, known for their bright yellow color and varying levels of heat. They grow on plants native to the Americas and are cultivated worldwide. These peppers are typically harvested when ripe and can be used fresh, dried, or processed into powders and sauces.

Yellow chili peppers are primarily used to add a mild to moderate level of heat and a vibrant yellow color to foods. They are often found in pickled products, relishes, salsas, and various ethnic cuisines. Their distinct flavor profile makes them a popular choice for enhancing the taste of dishes without overwhelming spiciness.

Yellow chili peppers are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as a food ingredient. They are a source of vitamins, particularly Vitamin C, and contain capsaicin, the compound responsible for their heat. While generally considered safe, excessive consumption of very hot peppers might cause digestive discomfort in some individuals. Regulatory bodies like EFSA have evaluated capsaicinoids, but specific evaluations for yellow chili peppers as a whole ingredient are not as common as for isolated compounds.
