Extractives Of Tumeric And Paprika

These are natural colorants derived from turmeric and paprika, two common spices. The process involves extracting the coloring compounds from the plant material, often using solvents, and then purifying them. The resulting extracts provide vibrant yellow and red hues.

Extractives of turmeric and paprika are used to add natural color to a variety of foods. They are commonly found in pickles, olives, relishes, and some pasta products. Manufacturers use them to enhance the visual appeal of their products, providing bright and appetizing colors.

These natural colorants are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. They are derived from spices that have been consumed for centuries without known adverse effects at typical dietary levels. Regulatory bodies like EFSA have also evaluated natural colorants, and they are widely permitted. There are no significant health controversies associated with the typical consumption of these natural extracts.
