Organic Baby Red Oak Lettuce

Baby red oak lettuce is a variety of red oakleaf lettuce, known for its frilly, lobed leaves with red-tinged edges. It is a leafy green vegetable grown for its tender leaves, often harvested when young for salads. It is cultivated similarly to other lettuce varieties, typically in soil or hydroponically.

This lettuce is primarily used fresh as a salad green, adding color and a mild, slightly bitter flavor to mixed greens. It is popular in pre-packaged salad blends and is often found in the produce section of grocery stores. Its tender texture makes it suitable for raw consumption without cooking.

Baby red oak lettuce is a food ingredient and is generally recognized as safe by the FDA when consumed as food. It is a source of vitamins and minerals. Regulatory bodies like EFSA and JECFA have not specifically evaluated this lettuce variety as a food additive, as it is a whole food ingredient. No specific health concerns are associated with its typical consumption.
