Organic Fair Trade Acai Puree

Acai puree is made from the fruit of the acai palm tree, native to Central and South America. The berries are typically harvested, then processed into a pulp or puree, often by washing, de-seeding, and blending.

Acai puree is used to add a unique berry flavor and a deep purple color to foods. It is commonly found in smoothies, juices, frozen desserts, and snack bars, where it contributes to both taste and visual appeal.

Acai is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a source of antioxidants, such as anthocyanins, which contribute to its deep color. JECFA has evaluated acai and established guidelines for its use. While acai is often promoted for various health benefits, scientific evidence for many of these claims is still developing.
