Organic Green Jalapeno Peppers

Green jalapeno peppers are a type of chili pepper, a cultivar of the species *Capsicum annuum*. They are typically harvested while still green, before they fully ripen. Jalapenos are known for their moderate heat and are widely used in cuisines around the world.

Green jalapeno peppers are used to add a spicy flavor and a hint of heat to a variety of foods. They are commonly found in Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes, salsas, sauces, dips, and as a topping for pizzas and nachos. Their distinct flavor also makes them popular in cheese products and processed snacks.

Green jalapeno peppers are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use as a food ingredient. They contain capsaicin, the compound responsible for their heat, which may have some health effects. Some research suggests capsaicin may play a role in metabolism and pain relief, but more studies are needed. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated capsaicinoids, but no specific evaluations for jalapenos themselves are readily available. Evidence on health benefits is still developing.
