Organic Indian Gooseberry

Organic Indian gooseberry, also known as amla, is a small, tart fruit native to India and Southeast Asia. It is a rich source of vitamin C and antioxidants. The fruit is often dried or processed into powders and extracts for use in food and supplements.

Indian gooseberry is used as a natural flavoring and source of vitamin C in beverages like iced teas, sodas, and powdered drink mixes. Its tartness can add a unique flavor profile, and its antioxidant properties are also valued by manufacturers.

Indian gooseberry is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a good source of vitamin C, an essential nutrient that supports the immune system. While often touted for various health benefits in traditional medicine, scientific evidence for specific disease prevention or treatment in humans is limited. JECFA and EFSA have not established specific numerical limits for its consumption as a food ingredient.
