Organic Tart Cherry Juice Concentrate

Organic tart cherry juice concentrate is made from tart cherries grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. The juice is extracted from the cherries and then concentrated by removing water, intensifying the flavor and color.

It is used to add a distinct tart cherry flavor and natural color to beverages, baked goods, and desserts. Manufacturers also use it in products like kombucha, teas, and juices for its flavor profile and perceived health benefits.

Tart cherry juice concentrate is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. Some studies suggest potential benefits for sleep and exercise recovery due to its natural melatonin and antioxidant content, but more research is needed. JECFA has evaluated tart cherry juice, and EFSA has evaluated anthocyanins, which are found in tart cherries, but neither has set specific limits for the concentrate itself. Evidence on health benefits is still developing.
