Pomegranate Juice From Concentrate

Pomegranate juice from concentrate is made from pomegranates, a fruit known for its tart-sweet flavor and vibrant red color. To create it, juice is extracted from the fruit, then water is removed through evaporation to concentrate the flavor and volume. Later, water is added back to return it to its original drinking consistency.

Manufacturers use pomegranate juice from concentrate primarily for its distinct flavor and color. It adds a tart and slightly sweet taste to beverages, sauces, and desserts. It is commonly found in fruit juice blends, sparkling waters, and as an ingredient in baked goods and marinades.

Pomegranate juice is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a source of antioxidants, such as punicalagins and anthocyanins, which may have health benefits. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has reviewed pomegranate juice and found it to be safe. Research into the specific health effects of pomegranate juice is ongoing, with some studies suggesting potential benefits for heart health and inflammation, while others show mixed results.
