Potatues

Potatoes are starchy root vegetables cultivated globally. In packaged foods, they are often processed into various forms such as diced, shredded, or mashed, and may be pre-cooked (e.g., blanched, fried) before being incorporated into products.

Manufacturers use potatoes as a primary ingredient to add bulk, texture, and a source of carbohydrates. They are commonly found in frozen breakfast items, savory meals, and side dishes, providing a familiar and satisfying component.

Potatoes are a common food ingredient and are generally recognized as safe for consumption. They are a source of carbohydrates, fiber, and various vitamins and minerals. The FDA does not regulate whole foods like potatoes as additives, and therefore, specific additive evaluations by bodies like JECFA or EFSA are not applicable.
