Tomato Sauce Which Is Made From Tomato Paste And Water

Tomato sauce made from tomato paste and water is a simple food product. It is created by combining concentrated tomato paste with water to achieve a desired consistency. This sauce provides the flavor and texture of tomatoes in a convenient form.

Manufacturers add this type of tomato sauce primarily for its flavor, color, and as a base for various dishes. It is commonly found in canned goods, such as canned seafood, and is also used in ready-to-eat meals and other prepared foods.

Tomato sauce is generally considered a food ingredient and not a food additive, so it does not have a specific FDA additive status like GRAS or an approved additive listing. Tomatoes are a source of vitamins and antioxidants, such as lycopene. There are no known adverse health effects at typical intake levels for tomato sauce made from paste and water. JECFA and EFSA do not typically evaluate whole food ingredients like tomato sauce in the same way they evaluate food additives.
