Concentrated Lemon Oil

Concentrated lemon oil is an essential oil extracted from the peel of lemons. It is produced by cold-pressing or steam distillation of lemon peels, capturing the volatile aromatic compounds that give lemons their distinct scent and flavor.

Manufacturers add concentrated lemon oil to provide a natural lemon flavor and aroma to foods. It is commonly found in seasoning mixes, marinades, salad dressings, baked goods, and beverages, where it enhances the overall taste profile.

In the U.S., concentrated lemon oil is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use as a flavoring agent. Regulatory bodies like JECFA and EFSA have evaluated flavoring substances, and concentrated lemon oil is considered safe when consumed at typical levels found in food. There are no widespread health controversies associated with its use.
