Dehydrated Garlic & Silicon Dioxide Added To Prevent Caking

Dehydrated garlic is dried garlic that has had most of its water removed. This process concentrates its flavor and extends its shelf life. Silicon dioxide is a naturally occurring mineral often added in small amounts to powdered foods to keep them free-flowing.

Dehydrated garlic provides concentrated garlic flavor in dry mixes. Silicon dioxide is added as an anti-caking agent, preventing powders from clumping. It's commonly found in seasoning mixes, spice blends, and dry soup mixes.

Dehydrated garlic is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use as a food ingredient. Silicon dioxide is also GRAS by the FDA. Both are considered safe in the small amounts used in food. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated silicon dioxide and found it safe for consumption. No significant health concerns are associated with typical dietary intake of these ingredients.
