Garlic Powder Black Pepper

Garlic powder is made from dried garlic cloves that have been ground into a fine powder. Black pepper comes from the dried berries of the Piper nigrum plant, which are then ground. Both are common spices used to add flavor to food.

Garlic powder and black pepper are used to enhance the taste of a wide variety of foods. They are frequently added to savory dishes like sauces, frozen meals, and appetizers to provide a pungent and slightly spicy flavor.

Garlic and black pepper are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as food ingredients. They are commonly consumed in amounts that do not pose health risks. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated various compounds found in garlic and pepper, but specific evaluations for the combined spice powder are not typically noted. Some research suggests potential health benefits associated with compounds in garlic and pepper, but these are generally related to high-dose consumption or supplements, not typical dietary intake.
