Natural Pomegranate Flavor

Natural pomegranate flavor is derived from the fruit of the pomegranate tree (Punica granatum). It is created by extracting aromatic compounds from the fruit or its juice, often using methods like distillation or solvent extraction to capture its characteristic sweet and tart taste.

Manufacturers add natural pomegranate flavor to enhance or impart a fruity taste in a variety of foods and beverages. It is commonly found in drinks like juices, sodas, and smoothies, as well as in snacks such as popcorn, chocolate, and candies.

Natural pomegranate flavor is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as a flavoring. Regulatory bodies like the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have evaluated flavoring substances, and international organizations like JECFA have also assessed flavors. At typical consumption levels, it is not associated with adverse health effects. Evidence does not suggest significant health concerns from its use as a flavoring agent.
