Beta Carotene And Riboflavin

Beta carotene is a pigment found in plants that gives them their orange color. Riboflavin, also known as Vitamin B2, is a water-soluble vitamin found in many foods. Both can be produced synthetically for use in food.

These ingredients are often used to add color to foods. Beta carotene provides yellow to orange hues, while riboflavin can give a yellow tint. They are found in products like dairy, baked goods, and beverages.

Beta carotene is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA. Riboflavin is also GRAS and is considered an essential nutrient. Both have been evaluated by international bodies like JECFA and EFSA. High intake of beta carotene from supplements can turn skin orange, but this is harmless. Evidence does not suggest adverse effects from typical dietary intake.
