Gumacacia

Gum acacia, also known as gum arabic, is a natural gum made from the hardened sap of acacia trees, primarily found in the Sahel region of Africa. The sap is harvested, dried, and then processed into a powder or granules.

Manufacturers use gum acacia as a stabilizer, emulsifier, and thickener in a wide variety of foods. It helps to prevent ingredients from separating and improves texture, commonly found in beverages, confectionery, baked goods, and sauces.

In the U.S., gum acacia is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use as a food additive. It is a source of soluble dietary fiber, which may have benefits for gut health. International bodies like JECFA and EFSA have evaluated gum acacia, and it is widely consumed with no significant health concerns reported at typical intake levels.
