Honey Mustard Pretzels

Honey Mustard Pretzels are a snack food made from baked pretzels coated or seasoned with a savory and sweet honey mustard flavor. The pretzels themselves are typically made from wheat flour, water, yeast, and salt, then baked until crisp.

This food item is primarily consumed as a snack. Manufacturers create honey mustard pretzels to offer a distinct sweet, tangy, and savory flavor profile to a classic baked snack, often included in snack mixes or party platters.

As a composite food, the health implications of Honey Mustard Pretzels depend on their individual ingredients. Pretzels are generally high in carbohydrates and sodium. The honey mustard seasoning often contributes added sugars (from honey and/or other sweeteners) and additional sodium. The FDA regulates the individual ingredients used in pretzels and their seasonings. JECFA and EFSA evaluate individual food additives and ingredients, not composite snack foods like honey mustard pretzels. Consumption should be considered within a balanced diet, particularly regarding sodium and added sugar intake, as the 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend no amount of added sugars and the FDA Daily Value for sodium is 2,300 mg.
