The 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting added sugars and keeping saturated fat intake to less than 10% of daily calories. Partially hydrogenated oils (PHOs), a source of artificial trans fat, are no longer considered Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) by the FDA since 2018, meaning they are largely removed from food products. International bodies like JECFA and EFSA evaluate individual food additives but do not assess composite food products like flavored coatings.
