Natural Flavors Including Butter And Cream

Natural flavors are complex mixtures derived from natural sources like plants or animal parts. They are created through physical, enzymatic, or microbiological processes, aiming to replicate or enhance existing tastes and aromas in food. Butter and cream contribute dairy notes to this flavor blend.

Manufacturers use natural flavors to add or intensify specific tastes, such as savory, sweet, or creamy notes, in a wide range of foods. They are commonly found in dairy products, baked goods, snacks, and prepared meals like pizza.

Natural flavors are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as intended. Regulatory bodies like JECFA and EFSA have evaluated many flavor compounds, generally considering them safe at typical consumption levels. While generally considered safe, the specific composition of natural flavors can vary, and some individuals may have sensitivities.
