Soy Seasoning Whey

Soy Seasoning Whey is a flavoring ingredient made from whey, a byproduct of cheese production, which is then seasoned and often dried. It is used to impart a savory, umami flavor reminiscent of soy sauce but with a dairy base. The process typically involves combining whey with other seasonings and then processing it to achieve the desired flavor profile and texture.

Manufacturers add Soy Seasoning Whey to provide a complex, savory flavor, often as a substitute for or complement to soy sauce. It is commonly found in frozen appetizers, frozen dinners, and pizza mixes, where it enhances the overall taste of the product. Its ability to deliver a rich, umami taste makes it useful in a variety of savory food applications.

Soy Seasoning Whey is generally recognized as safe by the FDA when used as a flavoring ingredient. As a dairy-derived product, it contains lactose and milk proteins. Regulatory bodies like JECFA and EFSA have evaluated whey and its components. While generally considered safe, individuals with lactose intolerance or milk allergies should avoid it. There are no widespread controversies regarding its use at typical levels.
