Walpers

Walpers is a brand name for gelatinized maca powder. Maca is a root vegetable native to the Andes mountains in Peru. Gelatinization is a process that heats maca powder to make it more digestible.

Manufacturers add it as a nutritional ingredient. It is often found in powdered drinks, other beverages, and baked goods like cookies and biscuits.

Walpers is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA. Maca is a food, not an additive, so it does not have an E-number or specific FDA regulations as an additive. Some studies suggest maca may have benefits for energy and mood, but more research is needed. JECFA has evaluated maca root and found it to be safe for consumption.
