Expeller Pressed Canola Oil Sunflower Oil Corn Oil

Expeller-pressed canola oil and sunflower oil are vegetable oils extracted from seeds using mechanical pressure, without chemical solvents. Corn oil is also extracted from corn germ, typically using a combination of mechanical pressing and solvent extraction. These oils are refined, bleached, and deodorized to create a neutral-tasting cooking oil.

These oils are widely used in processed foods as a cooking medium, to add richness, and to improve texture. They are found in baked goods, snacks like chips and crackers, salad dressings, and marinades due to their neutral flavor and versatility.

Expeller-pressed canola oil, sunflower oil, and corn oil are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. They are sources of unsaturated fats, including omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated various vegetable oils. While generally considered healthy in moderation as part of a balanced diet, high intake of any fat should be considered within overall dietary patterns.
