Ice Cream Shell: Milkfat And Nonfat Milk

Milkfat is the fat component of milk, while nonfat milk is the liquid portion of milk after the fat has been removed. Both are dairy products derived from cow's milk. They are often combined or used separately in dairy applications.

Milkfat and nonfat milk are fundamental ingredients in dairy products, providing richness, creaminess, and structure. They are key components in ice cream, yogurt, cheese, and butter, contributing to texture and flavor.

Milkfat and nonfat milk are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA when used as food ingredients. They are primary sources of calcium, vitamin D (if fortified), and protein. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend consuming low-fat or fat-free dairy products as part of a healthy eating pattern. Excessive intake of saturated fat, which is present in milkfat, is associated with increased risk of heart disease, according to health organizations.
