Organic Kombucha Tea

Kombucha is a fermented tea beverage made from a SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast). The SCOBY consumes sugar and tea to produce acetic acid, carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of alcohol.

Kombucha is typically consumed as a standalone beverage, often flavored with fruit juices or spices. Manufacturers produce it for its tangy taste and perceived probiotic benefits.

Kombucha is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for its intended use as a food ingredient. It contains probiotics, which are live microorganisms that may support gut health. The World Health Organization (WHO) has not established specific guidelines for kombucha consumption. Some individuals may experience digestive upset due to its acidity or carbonation. Evidence on specific health benefits is still developing.
