Powerbar Protein Blend

Powerbar Protein Blend is a proprietary mix of protein sources used in sports nutrition products. It typically combines whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, and soy protein isolate to provide a complete amino acid profile.

Manufacturers add this blend to bars and powders to increase the protein content, aiding muscle recovery and satiety. It is most commonly found in energy bars, protein bars, and meal replacement shakes.

Protein blends are not specifically regulated as additives by the FDA but are considered food ingredients. The individual components like whey and soy proteins are generally recognized as safe (GRAS). International bodies like JECFA have evaluated protein sources. While generally considered safe, excessive protein intake can strain the kidneys in individuals with pre-existing kidney conditions. Evidence does not link typical protein blend consumption to adverse health effects.
