Salt Garlic

Salt garlic is a seasoning blend made primarily from salt and dried, ground garlic. It combines the savory flavor of garlic with the enhancing properties of salt.

Manufacturers add salt garlic to foods primarily as a flavor enhancer and seasoning. It is commonly found in seasoning mixes, sauces, marinades, and various savory dishes to impart a distinct garlic and salty taste.

Both salt (sodium chloride) and garlic are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA. The primary health consideration for salt garlic relates to its sodium content, as high sodium intake is associated with increased blood pressure. The 2025-2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend limiting sodium intake, and the FDA Daily Value for sodium is 2,300 mg. JECFA has evaluated sodium chloride and established an acceptable daily intake. Garlic itself is widely consumed and generally considered safe.
