Sunflower Oil Palm Fruit Oil

Sunflower oil is extracted from the seeds of the sunflower plant (Helianthus annuus), while palm fruit oil is obtained from the fruit of the oil palm tree (Elaeis guineensis). Both oils are typically produced through pressing and refining processes.

These oils are commonly used in food manufacturing for cooking, frying, and to provide texture and mouthfeel to products. They contribute to the crispiness of snacks and can extend shelf life due to their stability.

Sunflower oil and palm fruit oil are both generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for their intended uses. Sunflower oil is rich in unsaturated fats, while palm fruit oil contains both saturated and unsaturated fats. The health effects of dietary fats, including those found in palm oil, are a subject of ongoing scientific discussion, with some evidence suggesting that the overall dietary pattern is more important than individual fat sources. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated these oils as food ingredients, and they are widely consumed globally.
