Vit E

Vitamin E is a group of fat-soluble compounds that act as antioxidants. It is found naturally in many foods like nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils. It can also be produced synthetically for use as a food additive.

Manufacturers add Vitamin E to foods as an antioxidant to prevent oils and fats from spoiling, which helps extend shelf life. It is commonly found in processed foods such as cereals, snack bars, and baked goods, as well as in some beverages.

Vitamin E is recognized as safe and effective by the FDA when used as a nutrient supplement or as an antioxidant. The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine have established a tolerable upper intake level for supplemental Vitamin E. JECFA and EFSA have also evaluated Vitamin E. While generally considered safe, very high doses of supplemental Vitamin E may increase the risk of bleeding in some individuals, though this is not typically a concern at levels found in fortified foods.
