Milk Chocolate Candies Milk Chocolate

Milk chocolate is a sweet chocolate made with milk solids (milk powder, condensed milk, or evaporated milk) in addition to cocoa solids, cocoa butter, and sugar. The addition of milk gives it a milder, sweeter flavor and a creamier texture compared to dark chocolate.

Milk chocolate is a popular confection and is used as a primary ingredient in candy bars, as a coating for snacks like pretzels and nuts, and as a flavoring in baked goods and ice cream. Manufacturers use it for its sweet taste and creamy texture.

Milk chocolate contains sugar and fat, and regular consumption in large amounts can contribute to excess calorie intake. The U.S. The 2025–2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommend no amount of added sugars, and at most 10 grams of added sugars per meal. JECFA has evaluated cocoa and cocoa products, but no specific ADI is set for milk chocolate itself. While generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA as a food ingredient, its nutritional profile means moderation is advised.
