Organic Pastry Flour

Organic pastry flour is a type of wheat flour made from organically grown wheat. It is milled to have a lower protein content than all-purpose or bread flour, typically between 8-10%. This lower protein content results in a finer, softer texture.

Manufacturers use organic pastry flour to create tender baked goods with a delicate crumb. Its low protein content makes it ideal for pastries, cakes, cookies, muffins, and quick breads where a soft texture is desired. It is also used in some types of pasta and noodles.

Organic pastry flour is a source of carbohydrates and some B vitamins. The FDA considers wheat flour to be generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for consumption. Regulatory bodies like JECFA and EFSA have evaluated wheat and its components. While whole wheat offers more fiber and nutrients, refined flour like pastry flour has less. Consuming a diet rich in refined grains may be associated with certain health outcomes, but pastry flour itself is not linked to specific adverse effects when consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
