Other Ingredients: Organic Coconut Milk

Coconut milk is the liquid that comes from the flesh of mature coconuts. It is made by pressing the grated coconut flesh, often after soaking it in hot water, to extract the milky liquid. Coconut milk is a staple in many tropical cuisines and is known for its rich, creamy texture and distinct flavor.

Manufacturers use coconut milk as a dairy-free alternative to traditional milk and cream in a variety of foods. It adds richness, a subtle sweetness, and a creamy texture to beverages, soups, curries, desserts, and baked goods. It is frequently found in plant-based protein shakes, ice creams, and dairy-free coffee creamers.

Coconut milk is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a source of saturated fat, primarily medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are metabolized differently than other fats. Some research suggests MCTs may have certain health benefits, but more studies are needed. JECFA has evaluated coconut milk and did not set a numeric limit (ADI not specified).
