Almond Milk Almond Milk

Almond milk is a plant-based beverage made from ground almonds and water. It is typically produced by soaking almonds, blending them with water, and then straining the mixture to remove the solids. This process results in a milky liquid that is a popular dairy alternative.

Manufacturers use almond milk as a dairy-free liquid base in a variety of foods, such as puddings, custards, and cereals. Its mild flavor and creamy texture make it a versatile ingredient for both sweet and savory dishes where a lighter, plant-based option is desired.

Almond milk is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a source of vitamin E and often fortified with calcium and vitamin D. While generally considered safe, individuals with tree nut allergies should avoid it. Regulatory bodies like EFSA have evaluated various food ingredients, but specific evaluations for almond milk as a standalone product are not typically highlighted in the same way as isolated additives.
