Riboflavin Folic Acid

Riboflavin is primarily added to foods as a nutrient supplement to fortify them, helping consumers meet their daily vitamin needs. It is commonly found in enriched grain products like bread and pasta, cereals, and dairy products. It also acts as a natural yellow colorant in some foods.

Riboflavin is recognized as safe and effective by the FDA when used as a nutrient supplement. The FDA lists it as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS) for food fortification. JECFA and EFSA have evaluated riboflavin and established acceptable daily intakes. At typical dietary intake levels, it is not associated with adverse health effects. High doses, usually from supplements, can cause bright yellow urine, which is harmless.
