Rice Bran Canola Oil

Rice bran canola oil is a blend of oil extracted from the outer layer of rice grains (rice bran) and oil from canola seeds. Both oils are refined through processes like pressing or solvent extraction, followed by purification steps to remove impurities and achieve a neutral flavor and color.

This oil blend is used for its neutral taste, high smoke point, and smooth texture, making it suitable for frying, baking, and as an ingredient in dressings and sauces. Manufacturers add it to processed foods like cereals, snack bars, and baked goods for its cooking properties and to improve mouthfeel.

Rice bran canola oil is generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA for use in food. It is a source of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, including omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Regulatory bodies like JECFA have evaluated edible oils, and while specific evaluations for this blend may vary, they are generally considered safe when consumed in typical amounts as part of a balanced diet. Evidence does not suggest significant health concerns at normal consumption levels.
